THERE
ARE MANY WAYS YOU CAN USE THE WARNING ALERTS IN YOUR FACILITY. EACH USE HAS ITS OWN
BENEFIT. BUT DONT TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT.
READ WHAT YOUR PEERS ARE SAYING. On occasion, a product
frequently used by our staff and physicians may appear in the alerts. We use the attached
form to notify our staff of product conditions. D.F.-Director of Purchasing-E.H. The recall alert format
facilitates forwarding of the information to the concerned departments in the hospital.
Keep up the good work. R.G.-Director of Purchasing - S.F.H. Your information is
distributed to various facility departments for appropriate action, and is also discussed
in our safety committee meetings. J.K. - Assistant Administrator-Recall Coordinator
- B.P.C. Your information is used
by our pharmacy and safety department and reported to our risk management committee. "It is paramount that one
check and double check to ensure nothing (recalls) are missed. B.K.-Quality
Assurance Director-W.M.H. Your warning alerts are
sent to each department when they arrive which enables us to pull the products immediately
to prevent potential danger to our patients. These alerts are reviewed at safety/risk
management meetings monthly. Thanks again for a well done document that can be easily
used. D.A.-Administrative Director-H.H. Membership in the
National Recall Alert Center has provided my facility the opportunity for a structured and
organized system for removing any items that have been recalled. My department managers
are kept current on any recalls or alerts by our continued membership. Attached is a copy
of the format that I developed for use with the recall letters. J.W.-Director
Quality Review - F.C.H. Your recalls are passed
through all nursing levels. Recalled items have been found through this process before the
company (manufacturer) has notified our facility. This is a plus that a problem can be
identified as soon as possible for the safety of our patients and staff. W.B. -
Director Facility Services - M.S.J.H. "The daily monitoring of
all supplies and equipment that are used within this hospital would be a full-time job.
With the use of the alerts from National Recall Alert Center, we are able to have all
departments check every item that could possibly be a problem and within minutes. The time
saved by using the center is tremendous - and is dependable enough that other programs are
not required. Time is money - and you have definitely saved us a lot! Again, thank you for
your effective and efficient recall alerts." J.T. -Director, Support Services -
U.S.P.H.S. As a long time member of
the National Recall Alert Center Network, I continue to find your publication most helpful
in tracking product recalls and providing information to the many users within our medical
center. We routinely use your report as part of our product recall surveillance efforts
by copying appropriate notices to specific department heads. Your reports are most helpful
because they show the distribution of the product by state. J.P. - Director,
Materials Management-A.B.M.C. "The National Recall
Alert Center has made follow-up on recalled medical products a routine procedure. The
timely, clear and concise data is readily disseminated to using departments for corrective
action. E.L. - Safety Director - S.W.M.H. I send copies to
appropriate departments of each issue to avoid use of any chemical or pharmaceutical
agents which may have the potential for an adverse effect." D.A.K. - Services
Administrator - C.M.C.H. The information provided
by National Recall Alert Center is reviewed by several departments within the facility,
and may be shared with other agencies where appropriate." J.B. - Director of Nursing
- W.G.H. Each week when I receive
the recall notices, I view each item and designate the using department, make copies of
the report and forward to each department. I have been requested by both our engineering
and our pharmacy departments to forward copies of the entire report. G.T. -
